Biographical Information

Paul Selden has specialized in business performance improvement and automation since the late '70's, working with clients such as Ford Motor Company, Lederle Laboratories, Nalco Chemical, Helene Curtis, Frito-Lay, Vaughan's Seed Company, Pharmacia-Upjohn, Gordon Foods, Ortho Pharmaceutical, Kemper, and many others.  In sales and marketing for over 20 years, Paul's hands-on business experience began when he founded Performance Management, Inc. in 1978, a specialized firm with locations in Detroit, London and Germany that provides comprehensive user support for computer systems to Fortune 500 firms, with an emphasis on end-user success from a business practice perspective.  PMI is one of the few companies that have received Ford Motor Company's prestigious Marketing Excellence Award for professional services five years in a row.  Paul holds the position of chairman and president of PMI, The Paul Selden Companies, Inc. and of CE Innovations, Inc.  He is a Director on the Board of Systematic Selling, Inc.  The Paul Selden Companies, Inc. is a research and sales training facilitation group.  CEI specializes in improving corporate income and earnings via the use of systematic, empirical approaches to surface and harness the drivers for growth.  Systematic Selling, Inc. offers state of the art leadership and sales training and sales leadership development systems.

Paul's practical empirical approaches are the product of years of research and application, the value of which has been widely recognized.  He is author of the 525+ page standard reference work in the field, "Guide to Implementing Sales Automation," now in its second edition and "Cost Benefit Analysis & Sales Automation," the first book-length treatment of this critical issue.  His latest book, "Sales Process Engineering: A Personal Workshop," released by ASQ Quality Press, is the first comprehensive book to treat sales as the output of a process which can be systematically studied and improved using well-established principles of quality and process improvement.  Achieve Global (formerly, Learning International), the noted sales training firm, licensed five of Paul's professional workshops on sales process improvement and automation related for presentation to their own clients, worldwide.  He worked directly with Development Dimensions International, the noted leadership development firm, on two of their successful programs, including their "gold standard," Targeted Selection. He is one of the few people to have worked with both Allied Signal and GE Capital on their Six Sigma training programs specifically customized for sales and marketing personnel.

Paul was recently named one of the "10 Most Influential People in Customer Relationship Management" by Sales and Marketing Automation magazine.  Paul personally consults with and develops programs for companies interested in improving income and earnings using a systematic approach.

He holds a Ph.D. in behavioral psychology from Western Michigan University and is an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.  His M.A. focused on Instructional Systems Design.
